The Elora Lions Club has been active in Elora since 1947 providing the community with annual family events, financial support in the form of donations and sponsorship, and enhancing the parks and playgrounds of Elora. Our membership consists of community members from all walks of life and adults of various ages with the common goal of serving the community through various avenues.
With the support of Lions Clubs International, which has the Mission Statement of “empowering volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs”, we are able to effect our wider community through sight related aid; assisting youth in different capacities; contributing to the aid in major catastrophes along with many other aspects of humanitarian service.
The club meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from September to June to plan events, discuss donation/sponsorship requests, become informed of needs in the community and move forward with the Lions vision of leading the way in community and humanitarian service.
What We Do In The Community:
• Volunteering time and partnering with the township in planning the Bissell Park revitalization
• Providing CWDHS scholarships
• Contributing to Breakaway Camp
• Putting on the Santa Claus Parade
• Donating to various groups and organizations such as School tree planting initiatives, Elora Co-operative Preschool, local sports teams, Habitat for Humanity and more
